Dual Credit College Now Program

SPLHS students may enroll in dual credit courses offered by SPLHS in cooperation with Mineral Area College.  The SPLHS/Mineral Area College College Now Program is a joint effort by both parties to provide juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in college credit courses at Mineral Area College for dual credit at SPLHS.

 Courses Available 

** Note the pre-requisite required.

American History I    (3 Credit Hrs.) American History II    (3 Credit Hrs.) American Political Systems     (3 Credit Hrs.) ** Analytical Geometry & Calculus I    (5 Credit Hrs.) A minimum Math score of 28 on the ACT Test; or have a minimum Algebra score of 95 on theCOMPASS Test; or have a minimum College Algebra score of 66 on the COMPASS Test; or have a minimum Trigonometry score of 90 on the COMPASS Test; or have completed MAT1230 College Algebra  and MAT1330 Trigonometry with a grade of “C” or better.

Appreciation of Music (3 Credit Hrs.) ** College Algebra    (3 Credit Hrs.) A minimum Math score of 23 on the ACT Test; or have a minimum Algebra score of 66 on theCOMPASS Test; or have a minimum College Algebra score of 53 on the COMPASS Test; or have a minimum Trigonometry score of 46 on theCOMPASS Test; or have completed MAT113 Intermediate Algebra with a grade of “C” or better.

Intro. to Criminal Justice (3 Credit Hrs.)

Comparative Religion (3 Credit Hrs.) ** Intro to Early Childhood Education    (3 Credit Hrs.) A grade of “C” or better in the high school Family and Consumer Sciences Education Courses entitled Parenting and Child Development (which can be taken concurrently with ECE100); have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. ** Early Childhood Health Safety and Nutrition    (3 Credit Hrs.) A grade of “C” or better in the high school Family and Consumer Sciences Education Courses entitled Parenting and Child Development (which can be taken concurrently with ECE104); have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. ** Elementary Spanish    (3 Credit Hrs.) Same requirements as English Composition I(see below)  ** English Composition I    (3 Credit Hrs.) A minimum English score of 18 on the ACT Test; or have a minimum writing score of 70 on the COMPASS Test; or have completed ENG097 Basic Writing II or its equivalent Learning Center Modules ENG024, ENG025, ENG026 with a grade of “C” or better.

A minimum Math score of 21 on the ACT Test; or have a minimum Algebra score of 48 on theCOMPASS Test; or a minimum College Algebra score of 38 on the COMPASS Test. Medical Terminology I   (3 Credit Hrs.) **Medical Terminology II    (3 Credit Hrs.) A grade of “C” or better in HLT235 Medical Terminology I. Public Speaking    (3 Credit Hrs.) **Trigonometry    (3 Credit Hrs.) A minimum Math score of 27 on the ACT Test; or have a minimum Algebra score of 90 on the the COMPASS Test; or have a minimum College Algebra score of 72 on the COMPASS Test; or have a minimum Trigonometry score of 63 on the COMPASS Test; or have completed MAT123 College Algebra with a grade of “C” or better. Western Civilization I   (3 Credit Hrs.)
